Project Description

Concourse B at the Logan International Airport was renovated and expanded. Approximately 100,000 square feet of the existing terminal and concourse was renovated and about 35,000 square feet of new construction was added. The project wascomposed of a two story facility with a structural steel frame on pile foundation. Among the building additions there was an exterior wall system of pre-fabricated insulated metal panels and extruded aluminum window frames with insulated glass. This project was completed in three phases.

$10 million. January 1992 through December 31, 1995

Responsibilities

As a Senior Cost-Schedule Engineer, our engineer developed the As-Planned schedule for the project. The schedule was cost and resource loaded to optimize the use of time and money and to forecast any possible impact on the project. Special consideration was given to the pile driving of the building due to schedule constraints related to noise, weather and concrete pouring during the winter. She revised the general requirements and the sequencing of the work stipulated therein. Whenever necessary, she suggested modifications relative to scheduling specifications.

Project Highlights

Continuing operations of the existing portions of the terminal were kept fully operational during the construction.
